We have started a parish conference of the Society of St. Vincent De Paul (SSVDP) at St. Patrick’s. Our purpose is to serve people in times of need in the Portland area, while growing in spirituality and friendship.

The core work of the SSVDP is home visits. Members visit the homes of people who have requested assistance, and in these person-to-person encounters we offer a listening ear, spiritual support through prayer, and material help.

As we get started in Portland, we have eight active members and few preconceived notions. What we do know is that our service will be tailored to the specific needs of people in our community. If someone has a need, they can call the church office, call the society at (517) 743-4128 or email ssvdp@portlandstpatslorg or reach out to Todd Davlin at: tdd281970@gmail.com. In response, two people will schedule a home visit and we’ll do our best to help.

Contact information will be maintained on the church website and in the weekly bulletin. If you have a need, are interested in getting involved, or wish to support SVDPS with a donation please reach out to Todd for more information.
