This scholarship is provided by THK located in Portland.  Applicant must be:

• A senior in good standing and eligible for graduation
• Possess an overall high school GPA of 3.3 or better
• Be accepted at an accredited two or four year university/college and plan on attending on a full-time basis
• Plan to pursue a course of study (major) in one of the following areas: science, mathematics, engineering or engineering support field, business or science education.

Msgr. Herman Zerfas left money in his estate to establish a scholarship fund for a St. Patrick School graduate.  Applicant must:

• Plan to attend a Catholic college
• Have a strong scholastic record, exemplary character, and a reverence of the Catholic faith which would make Msgr. Zerfas proud.

This scholarship was started by the family of Edward Leik to promote careers in the trades.  Applicant must:

• Be pursuing a career by going to a vocational tech or trade school.

The late Walt Sprague, who was a local entrepreneur, established a scholarship fund for St. Patrick School graduates.  Each year, the fund allows for two scholarships, one for a male and one for a female student.  The scholarship money will go to students who:

• Have a solid scholastic record
• Have chosen an area of study in science or a science-related field.

This scholarship will be awarded to a senior who is interested in a career in the medical, human services, or health-related field.

Scholarships are available to members of PFCU who are high school seniors or home-schooled seniors.  Applicant must:

• Be a member, in good standing, of Portland Federal Credit Union.
• Enroll in an accredited two or four-year college or university in the fall following high school graduation
• Have a total GPA of 3.0 or higher

Five scholarships will be awarded for 4-year colleges/universities.

Five will be awarded for skilled trades.

This scholarship is provided by the Portland Knights of Columbus Council #2168.

This scholarship is provided by the Dale J. Hyland Post 129.  It is available to a St. Patrick School or PHS senior who:

• Is a son, daughter, grandchild, or great-grandchild, including adopted and stepchildren, of honorably discharged veterand or POWs, MIAs, KIAs of the armed services of the USA.
• Is enrolled or in the process of being enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited institution of higher education in a public or private university, college, or technical school.

Selection shall be based on an evaluation of academic achievement, extracurricular activities, demonstrated financial need, and goals and objectives.

The Hengesbach Memorial Scholarship was created in memory of brothers, Charles, Albin, Paul, and Jim Hengesbach and nephews John and Steve.  These brothrs spent their entire careers in the construction management and carpentry fields.   The scholarship is intended to help those going into the construction and associated vocational trades.  It is offered to assist and encourage workforce education and training in the construction industry.  It can be used to fund post-secondary education, college, vocational, public or private institutions.

This scholarship is provided by Todd and Amy LaJoy.  Amy Pung LaJoy is a graduate of St. Patrick School Class of 1993.  This scholarship will be awarded to a member of the current St. Patrick School senior class.  Candidates must:

• Have a GPA of 3.3 or higher.
• Have attended St. Patrick School for at least four years
• Attend a four-year college or university.

Although not required, preference may be given to a senior planning on attending the University of Michigan or Western Michigan University and/or planning on studying political science or business.

This scholarship was started by Randy and Michelle Hodge in 2016.  First preference will be given to a graduating senior planning to attend barber college and second preference given to a student attending cosmetology school.  If there are no seniors attending either of these two choices, a student entering vocational or technical school will be given preference.

This scholarship was started by alumni Graham Smith (Class of 2017).  This scholarship will go to the member of the graduating class that the high school staff selects for the Lifelong Learner Achievement Award.  $500 can be used at the institution where the students attends post high school education;  $250 will go to this student’s charity of their choice.

Marie was born in 1900, graduated from Portland High School in 1919, and attended County Normal and Ferris State College. She was a practical nurse, long-time rural school teacher, and taught elementary school at St. Patrick’s in the 1950’s.  She married her long-time sweetheart, George Slowinski late in life. They died 10 days apart in July, 1989.

The Marie Leik-Slowinski Scholarship is awarded each spring to a graduating senior who demonstrates good study habits, steady improvement and hard work to achieve.   The scholarship is administered by the Father Flohe Foundation.

This scholarship was started by the Kolarik family in memory of Tony Kolarik III (Class of 1989).

• First preference will be given to a graduating senior planning to attend Central Michigan University.
• Second preference will be given to a student planning a career as a teacher.
• Candidates must have attended St. Patrick High School for four years.
• The recipient should also show good character, ethics, and strong school spirit.

Judy Wight passed away in 2007 after a courageous fight against multiple sclerosis.  She was a loving wife and mother of two St. Patrick School graduates.  Judy was know as a selfless, generous, and giving person.  She was a proud supporter of St. Patrick School and this scholarshp is dedicated to her memory.

• This scholarship requires the applicant to write an essay.
• It is open to any senior at St. Patrick High School.
